Life is really like a box of chocolates, you’ll never know what your gonna see inside as per Forrest Gump. People really do crazy things and sometimes trying to be stupid. I can’t believe that the MMDAs proposal to solve the traffic accidents of the BUS is to have a Lady Driver.
Isn’t that chauvinist and stupid at the same time? Lady drivers cant drive a normal sized car, how the hell can they drive a bus! hahaha! Kidding aside, its not the gender issue. Its the strict implementation of traffic penalties, rules and regulations and it is about the legality of the drivers, men or women, if they are capable or not. I strongly believe if a normal citizen is given a professional license to drive a public utility vehicle, his or her objective should change to “safety” because as a public utility driver, your main objective is to bring your passengers from point A to point B safely and next is to bring home money to your family and not the other way around. Now, if our traffic penalties,rules and regulations are lame, even a lady driver can turn out to be a reckless driver. Nevertheless, the issue points back to our government, if the agencies who handles traffic and licensing are doing their job. Because i see a lot of men with government acronyms flagging down vehicles along EDSA with different purposes and intentions.
Let me specify the MGA(Men with Government Acronyms) that i see in the streets what are their objectives.
1. MMDA-Metro Manila Development Authority. Their main objective is to develop Metro Manila Streets via beautification of sidewalks,flyovers, and in most cases controlling traffic.
2. TMG- Traffic Management Group. Their main objective should be the controlling or management of Traffic but as of my knowledge, they are the ones hunting for stolen vehicles, they also authenticate Certificate of Registration.
3. DOTC-Department of Transportation and Communications. Their main objective is to develop systems for the transportation and communications. So basically, they should do research and study new improvements for the country’s transportation and communications. Are they?
4. LTFRB-Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board, they are responsible for the issuance of Public Transportation Licenses and they should be regulating the number of public transport per area. PUV:passenger ratio.
5. TTMO- Traffic and Transport Management Office, a new branch of MMDA that is redundant to DOTC and TMG. Again, MMDA is trying to be controversial with this acronym.
6. LTO- Land Transportation Office, responsible for the issuance of drivers license. (private or public)
Every time you drive in an unfamiliar street, you’ll get to see more MGAs. Mr. President, lets call the attention of our government agencies and lets try to solve real problems and not make stupid comments and solutions that only diverts the problem and not solve!
So what is the real solution? Get the rules straight! If a PUV is involve in any accident, automatic, they are the culprit, no questions asked. If a pedestrian got hit by a car outside the pedestrian lane, no crime will be done, its the pedestrians fault why she/he got killed. If a motorcycle got hit outside motorcycle lane (we should have this) no questions asked, its the motorcycles fault. just like that!
